Bandicoot : That's Not Gonna Happen

7.6.16

Bounding onto the scene with their new track That's Not Gonna Happen, Bandicoot have given our eager ears a bursting, hazy summer song; best paired with a cold beverage and warm rays.

A chilled yet progressive step from their previous track Everything I Need, the alternative Swansea based band have conjured their second single with considerable finesse, along with a showcase of varying musical style. It's interesting to hear the band take a mellow but affirming sound in the new release through a swooning rise and fall, whilst retaining their crisp and boundary free musical stamp. Again, Bandicoot combine distinctive riffs and a suave vocal tone in an increasingly recognisable sound linked to this young band. With solid foundations That's Not Gonna Happen evolves throughout, allowing for an indulgent texture embodying zany guitar licks, jaunty drums and wistful sax echos; giving this track an ever growing quality. With subtle angst and poetic lyrics, That's Not Gonna Happen is suggestive of a sweet revival of sauntered shoegazing, perfect for ambling afternoons and the teenage escapist. Coupled with ambiguous art work, this new release allows for lost moments and forlorn relief in a developing sound with almost tangible charm.

With another great track from the boys, it's exciting to watch Bandicoot emerge with ever growing enthusiasm for their music. Ones to watch in the new Welsh scene, keep up with their growing tracklist on Twitter: @bandi_coot
